Twitch Rivals will run the newest iteration of the League of Legends Series in North America. This will be based on our Series 1 event and will feature a longer schedule with less matches played per broadcast day, more opportunities for the different teams to face off against one another, and a more balanced, curated lineup of participants with a huge emphasis on the creator experience.
Day “0” will be a draft on April 7, during which 8 captains will draft from a pool of at least 40 other players. The draft will take up to 2 hours. Players will be ranked based on their MMR in coordination with Riot and teams will be limited in the number of “high-skill” players they can add to a team. This list and these rankings will be reviewed with the captains prior to the draft to ensure that everyone is on the same page.
Day 1-2 will feature a group stage with 4 teams in each group playing a Round Robin tournament format, with each match being over 2 games. Each team will play one match on each broadcast day, except for one double-header day where each team will play two matches, so that by the end of Day 2 each team has played each other team in their group.
The top 3 teams from each group by total map score will advance to a 6-team Playoff bracket on Day 3, with the bottom team from each group being eliminated.
